Who we are

SmartTripPlan ("we", "us", "the site") operates smarttripplan.in, a free travel planning tool and a collection of destination guides. The site is published and operated by Kishlay Kumar Kashyap from Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to kishlaykumarkashyap@gmail.com and we will answer.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use the trip planner you enter travel details — an origin city, a destination, dates or a number of days, a budget level and the number of travellers. We use these to generate your plan. We do not ask you to register, and we do not require a name, phone number or email address to use the planner.

If you contact us by email, we hold that correspondence so we can reply to you and keep a record of any correction you have reported.

Information collected automatically

Our host receives technical request information when you visit. External image providers and, when enabled, advertising services may also receive:

• Your IP address and approximate location derived from it
• Your browser type, operating system and device type
• The pages you view, the time of your visit and the referring page
• Cookie and similar identifiers, as described below

Visitor counts and public trip ideas

Valid city-to-city searches submitted through Plan My Trip are recorded immediately, independently of itinerary generation. Recent Trip Ideas displays the latest eight routes from the last 30 days with their trip length and search day. It does not publish names, browser identifiers, exact addresses, exact search times or departure dates. A random submission ID prevents duplicate entries on retries. The database retains the recording timestamp for ordering and expiry; the public API returns only its UTC calendar day. Older rows are removed when new searches are recorded. This feature does not use the former activity-sharing consent cookies.

Basic site counts operate independently of public trip sharing. A random first-party stp_browser cookie lasts up to one year and prevents repeat visits and refreshes from counting again. Each Plan My Trip button activation adds to Trips planned, even if validation or generation fails. Retries of the same counting request do not add another trip. Earlier totals represented successful plans; the definition changed on 28 September 2026 without resetting totals. We store keyed hashes of browser and click identifiers, without names, IP addresses or raw trip details, and do not share them with advertising providers. Hashes remain while these cumulative counters operate. These statistics help us understand how the planner is used. Browser changes, cleared or expired cookies can count the same person again; blocked storage or network failures can prevent counting. You can turn site counts off on our Cookie Policy page. We respect Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and your separate site-counting preference. This choice is separate from advertising consent and public trip sharing.

Cookies and similar technologies

Plans and preferences on this device

Generated plans may be cached in session storage and reused for up to one hour in the same tab. Previously saved plans may remain in local storage and can still be restored by their original planning link; there is currently no new Save button. These copies are not account backups. Clearing browser storage removes them, and other people using the same browser may be able to read them. A separate stp_counts preference cookie remembers your site-counting choice for up to one year; it is not a visitor identifier. Older activity-sharing cookies are no longer used.

Travel data providers

To look up places and weather, we send relevant city searches or destination coordinates to the configured providers, which may include LocationIQ, Geoapify, OpenStreetMap, OpenWeather and WeatherAPI.com. Currency lookups send currency codes to Frankfurter. Optional AI requests use trip preferences and place information; do not enter sensitive personal information into the planner.

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. We and our partners use them for the following purposes:

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking advertising cookies will not stop you from using the site or the trip planner. For more detail see our Cookie Policy.

Advertising — Google AdSense

Advertising is currently disabled. If enabled, Google AdSense ads may appear on eligible destination guide pages. The following disclosures apply when Google advertising is used:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative.
• Google's handling of data as an advertising partner is described in the Google Privacy & Terms site.

We do not place advertising on this Privacy Policy, our other policy pages, or on the trip planner output screen.

Third-party services we use

The information sent depends on the feature: city names and coordinates for place searches and weather, currency codes for exchange rates, and trip preferences and candidate places for optional AI assistance. We do not send our visitor cookie or its database hash to these providers.

• Geoapify, LocationIQ and OpenStreetMap — city searches, coordinates and nearby places.
• OpenWeather and optional WeatherAPI.com — current weather and forecasts.
• Frankfurter — reference exchange rates.
• Optional Tavily and DuckDuckGo — information about a requested place.
• Optional Google Gemini — itinerary wording from travel preferences and place information when configured.
• Supabase — destination reference data, aggregate counters and private hashed deduplication records, and public city-level recent searches.
• Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
• Unsplash and OpenWeather image servers — photographs and weather icons loaded by your browser, which sends ordinary technical request information.

Google Maps and booking links open external websites when you choose them; the planner does not embed a Google Map. External services handle information under their own policies. Booking search links can include your selected destination, travel dates and party size.

Affiliate links

Some booking links may include configured affiliate identifiers, meaning we may earn a commission if you book through them at no extra cost to you. Clicking such a link takes you to a third-party site, which then handles your data under its own policy. We never receive your payment details. See our Disclaimer for more.

How we use information

• To generate and display the trip plan you asked for
• To operate, secure and improve the site
• To measure aggregate traffic and which guides are useful
• To display advertising that funds the site
• To reply to you if you contact us

We do not sell your personal information. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not share your trip planner inputs with advertisers.

Data retention

Trip inputs are processed to produce your plan; travel search URLs can also appear in hosting request logs. Provider-response cache periods vary by endpoint, and stale content may be served during revalidation. Browser plan copies and private metric hashes follow the retention described above. Email correspondence is kept while relevant to answering you or maintaining a correction record.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not operate user accounts, we typically hold very little that identifies you. To make a request, email kishlaykumarkashyap@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

First-party measurement can be turned off on the Cookie Policy page. This choice does not grant advertising consent. Where Google advertising requires a separate consent message, its choices must be managed separately before ads are enabled.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Private provider credentials and database write credentials stay on the server. Public service identifiers, such as an AdSense publisher ID or Supabase public key, may be included in browser code; database permissions restrict what a public key can access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
